Life Insurance Paramedical Exam Tips - It's a basic exam completed by an approved third-party vendor, typically Exam One or APPS to complete your physical at your home or you can visit them. It is a recording of the electrical impulses associated with cardiac contraction and relaxation. The ECG does not cause any pain. You will be asked to lie down flat with your shirt unbuttoned in order to place the leads on your chest.

The Night Before, DO...
- Have a low fat, light dinner, with no late night snacks. Drink lots of water-Try to get to bed early to get plenty of rest.
- Fast for 8-12 hours before your exam.
The Morning of the exam, DO...
- Drink lots of water, enough to make you urinate at least once before giving a urine sample to the examiner.
- Schedule the exam early enough in the morning before you start feeling pressured by the day's events. This will help keep your blood pressure down.
- Ask the examiner what your blood pressure reading was after she takes it. If it is over 155/95, and it won't go below that, have the examiner stop the exam and reschedule for a later date.

- Try to lose weight fast. Insurance companies will add in half the weight you have lost within 1 year.
- Eat a high fat, high calorie meal the night before!
- Eat anything OR Drink coffee before the exam.
- Drink more than one alcoholic beverage the night before the exam.
- (Women Only) - It is a good idea not to do the exam while menstruating.
- If applying for Non-Tobacco rates, please don't use any tobacco products! This includes cigars, gum and chewing tobacco.
- Try not to use any pain relievers such as Tylenol or Advil (Ibuprophen) the night before the blood test, they can temporarily elevate liver enzymes.
